Adam’s Apples and Paris, je t’aime
Two movies I have recently watched are Adam’s Apples and Paris, je t’aime.
Adam’s Apples is a danish movie and is a great example of the humour present in what I’d call ‘nordic movies’. The movies plays in a small village where a devoted priest runs a church where to community service senteced people work. The movies starts out with the arrival of a neo-nazi (Adam) who has to do community service. In the course of the movie he clashes not only with the pries but also the other two guys (one alcoholic rapist and a muslimic gas-station robber) doing their service. While the movie is layed out as a comedy, it does have its thinking moments. great flick!
Just yesterday I watched “Paris, je ‘taime”. The name already suggests the setting, Paris of course. The movie consists of eigtheen short movies, each showing a scene out of a person or couple’s life in the city, relationship, job. All scenes have to do with love (as the title of the movie suggests once again). The camera and filming is done very nice and each episode is fantastic. This is a french production and like “Adam’s Apples” shows that european movies are by far better than what comes from the US.
Both movies are definitly a must see.
