First Decent
A week ago, I watched First Decent. I have to admit, that I never had any strong feelings about snowboarding, however I do enjoy watching movies like the New World Disorder mountain-biking series, so I just gave First Decent a shot. Turns out, this movie is amazing. It’s a documentary about five snowboard pros (among them Shaun White, Hannah Tater and Terje Haakonsen) that go freeriding in Alaska. First Decent is a term to describe that a slope of a mountain is being ridden down for the first time. While the movie features lots of nice scenery (showing off Alaska from its best side), awesome snowboard action it also gives a view on the history of snowboarding. In my opinion a terrific mixture. Seeing how Terje drops off 7800 feet mountain and rides down the slope, going through an avalanche and riding right out of it again just totally hit my taste.
