Green Coding - Bridging the Gap from Theory to Practice

At last years Weizenbaum Conference I was invited to participate in a panel on green coding titled “Green Coding – Bridging the Gap from Theory to Practice”. Together with Grischa Beier (“Sustainability in Digitalization” at the University of Potsdam), Lena Hoffmann (Gesellschaft für Informatik) and Verena Majuntke (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft) I had the chance to discuss what measures are required to facilitate the integration of Green Coding practices into mainstream software development? Which stakeholders should be engaged to achieve this goal and which role can or should standards and policies play in fostering a widespread adoption of Green Coding? The panel was moderated by Nikolas Becker from the Gesellschaft für Informatik.
Following the panel us four wrote a paper that was published as part of the Conference Proceedings: Uncertain Journeys into Digital Futures.
